Ullapool to Stornoway

The most common route is to take the ferry from Ullapool (on the north west coat of Scotland) to Stornoway (the main town on Lewis) and that takes 2 hours 45 minutes. From Stornoway to 20A Kirkibost is approximately a 35 minute drive.

Alternatively there is a ferry from Uig on Skye to Tarbert, Isle of Harris. The drive from Tarbert to 20A Kirkibost is approximately 1 hour.

The ferry can be very busy in peak season, especially the first sailing on a Saturday. We therefore recommend you make you confirm your travel plans and availability before you make the house booking.

By Air.

Fly from London, Exeter, Glasgow, Edinburgh & Invenerss.

Loganair is the only airline that flies into Stornoway. However, through their code share scheme, you can book direct flights from London and international destinations. This will see you luggage checked in from your departure airport all the way through to Stornoway airport.

The airport on Lewis is a few miles outside Stornoway. Domestic flights arrive daily from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness. Flight time is less than an hour on all routes from mainland Scotland.

There are no direct international flights to Stornoway but you can buy through-tickets from most UK and internal airports.

Car Hire

Having a vehicle is going to be essential to make the most of your trip to 20A Kirkibost. Whilst the house overlooking a stunning sea loch, and the Uig hills is perfect for escapism, adventure and relaxation alike, it is located in one of the remoter parts of the island. Therefore, having a car or other vehicle/cycle is going to be critical to make the most of your stay.
